Sun Enters Aries (Vernal Equinox) 2016-03-19

The Vernal Equinox occurs March 19th in most of the United States and March 20th in UK / Europe.  (Click here for more about the change of seasons in 2016.)  We have a Focused Yod present.  That pattern requires you to make a decision (choose wisely!) but also gives you the power to “get things done” once you have made that decision.  That pattern occurring at this time will give you both a similar requirement and a similar advantage until at least the Summer Solstice and possibly as long as the Vernal Equinox in 2017.

In most of the United States, except the Eastern Time Zone (EDT), the Vernal Equinox greets us late tonight.  (EU / UK experience this a half past 5 or half past 6 or later depending upon time zone.)

Sun biseptiles Saturn, and we should consider resolving some old karma or helping someone less fortunate than ourselves or both.  Sun quintiles Pluto, and we may encounter a very ingenious idea that either (a) helps us with the biseptiles (helping someone else) or (b) gives us a gift in the form of a smart idea that comes from providing said help.  In any case, they go together and they set the stage for the days to come at least until the Summer Solstice (late June) or possibly as long as the Vernal Equinox of next year (late March).  Venus septile Pluto confirms this emphasis on helping others.

Venus novile Uranus provides us with a gift of some sort this evening, an insight or useful skill, likely resulting from helping others (or maybe an insight because we failed to help; those can be hard lessons sometimes).  This novile signals a coming Venus / Uranus conjunction where we may enter into “unusual” relationships (or GLBT) or have ideas for particularly unusual or creative art (or money management).

Marsout aspects (outer planet aspects) are silent / absent today.

The Vernal Equinox happens 11:30 PM CDT / 10:30 PM MDT / 9:30 PM PDT and after midnight on March 20th 12:30 AM EDT on the east coast.  A new annual cycle for the Sun begins, and this is the beginning of the “Astrological New Year” as well.

A relatively benevolent Moon v/c begins after midnight (Moon Trine Sun) and ends near 4 AM CDT with the entry of the Moon into Leo.  The moon is more quiet today than yesterday, with quincunx aspects to Venus (afternoon) and Neptune (evening).  You may encounter a few glitches, but for most people they will be forgetten in a day or two and certainly by next week.

Outer planet aspects are far more busy (yesterday was relatively quiet with a Ceres / Uranus aspect bring a surprise regarding our prosperity (“The Visa is maxed out? Again?)).

Mars sesquiquadrate Uranus brings us some sense of urgency (possibly anger) to “get things done.”  Chiron opposite North Node (“Rahu” to some) means it is conjunct the South Node (“Ketu”) and, therefore, we have a temptation to “take the easy way out” or “cut corners” regarding some issue involving healthcare, education, or both.  (Don’t do it!)

Pallas does BiQuintile Hygeia, and we CAN have a brilliant insight into how to solve problems today.  Just focus your efforts, do not get derailed, do not cut corners, and do the work necessary.

Tomorrow brings the Vernal Equinox for most of the United States (except the East Coast that experiences a half hour past midnight EDT on March 20th and UK / EU which experiences it in the early morning hours on March 20th).  Things will change.

We note that the Moon is very busy today, perfecting seven aspects (not including higher order aspects such as quintiles and septiles).  The afternoon and evening has a series of lunar trines on this traditional Irish holiday (the date of St. Patrick’s death), and we expect the evening to go well for most people (except anyone who consumes too much in the way of mood altering substances and contributes to an accident or other harmful situation).

Mercury conjunct Chiron today tells us that we have communications and transportation related to health, education or both.  Much of today is about processing the earlier three days of the week.

We note that Mars is quintile the North Node (Karma), and you have an important insight that leads to important action to wash away some old Karma so that you can move forward with your life.  Mercury semisextile Uranus also contributes.  For most people, this is a “good day.”

Mars in quincunx Vesta today, so if you are determined to “do things the way you have always done them,” or allow someone who thinks like that to block your efforts, then you may lose your opportunity.  Therefore, Persist.

If you do persist, it will pay off.  Today has amazing opportunities available, and you may not see anything quite like this for another eight years.

After yesterday, today seems like a pause, the space between the notes that makes music.  But, three influential aspects perfect today, so do not expect too much rest for the weary.  And, today is the “Ides of March,” at least by the calendar.  (But, if we adjusted the calendar so that the Vernal Equinox began on March 1st, as was originally true with the Romans, then the Ides of March would occur on another day, probably about April 5th.)

With Venus semisquare Uranus, we may feel an urgency to “seize” the moment and do something a bit kinky and unusual.  Chances are good that it will be a “stroke of genius” as well.  This aspect perfects 11:47 AM CDT.

Much earlier (and quite influential on March 14th as well), Mercury sextile Pluto perfects and tells us we must look at money and finances, particularly regarding taxes, police, and intelligence agencies.  As many already know from mundane sources, this aspect (along with the others, particularly yesterday’s patterns) tells us that today’s elections will likely be the most important turning points in the race, up to and possibly including the final election itself.

Mercury opposite Jupiter is an amplifier, especially in terms of communications and transportation.  Rhetoric will abound, not only with national politicians but with local ones as well including the ones you must tolerate on a day to day basis (i.e. your “boss” or “supervisor” or someone like that).  Eventually this will all blow over, but important things will be said both today and all week long.

We have written extensively about this day elsewhere concerning the amazing compendium of patterns that are present and just how important we believe March 14th (and March 15th) are as a turning point for many people.

We will not duplicate our analysis of patterns here.  But, today is noteworthy for both (1) Venus Square Mars and (2) Mercury Square Saturn.  Venus square Mars days CAN be GREAT days for romance.  But, sometimes lovers fight on these days.  Sometimes both things are true!  If “it” is not about romance in your life, then you are in a position to scrutinize “how you get things done,” particularly in the arts and in spiritual matters.

Mercury Square Saturn is all about paying attention to details, especially in matters of transportation and communication.  It can also be about searching for, and rectifying, bookkeeping and accounting errors.  Do not be sloppy today.  Cross every “t” and dot every “i.”

Again: you will want to check the analysis of patterns for today.

Today is dominated by Venus aspects and a number of higher order outer planet aspects.

Most noteworthy is Venus semisquare Pluto, a source of a sense of urgency or annoyance that inspires us to action.  We tend to feel this more later in the day rather than earlier.  Venus is also quadrinovile the North Node (“Karma”), and we may learn a skill or have an insight that is quite useful at some point in the future.  Pay attention!

Jupiter opposes Ceres and “something” goes wrong considering our prosperity or at least some critical issue involving food.  This is a Virgo / Pisces aspect, and it may bring to the surface certain issues related to the recent eclipse.  Since this has been building for a few weeks (or even a few months), this could actually happen any time between the a week before the perfection of this aspect or up to the week after.  We might add that chances are good it came to our attention on the day of the eclipse.  But, whatever it is, you will likely feel it.

Jupiter is quincunx Pallas, and some ideas that may seem good at the time will prove to be not so strong later.  Chiron (health, education, mentoring, “healing thyself”) is also quincunx Astraea (law and legal system).

All around, it tends to be a day of annoyances that contains some well hidden but important learning opportunities.

Venus enters Pisces today.  This is great for creatives, one of the best possible situations, but not so good for finances.  Similar to yesterday (except that it is with us for a few weeks), this empowers scammers.  Put off major purchases for a few weeks if at all possible.  Certainly avoid speculative endeavors.  As mentioned before, the best use of these few weeks is in developing your abilities with writing poetry or lyrics, photography, or videography.  Other arts may flourish also, but the ones explicitly mentioned work best.

Mars novile Black Moon Lilith this day gives a bit of temptation to explore the taboo.  Just be careful if you go down that road.

Today you may feel an urgent need to get things done, but that may not go so well unless you are working writing poetry or song lyrics, doing a photoshoot, or making a video or movie.  Scammers and thieves will tend to be more active today, so make certain you do not believe anything a stranger says or buy what they try to sell you.  Even family members may be suspect.  Stick to the poetry or photography.

Mars semisquare Pluto is the source of needing to “get things done” and it may lead to tempers flaring or even violence.  We have all been on edge at least since last weekend (and, arguably, since 2011 when the first Uranus / Pluto square perfected).

Sun opposes North Node, and we may need to deal with some “hard karma” today that will help us grow as a person.
