Solar Eclipse of September 13, 2015 (New Moon)

Grandtrines

Chatter about a so-called “Blood Moon” eclipse has been increasing, and it refers to a series of Lunar Eclipses.  Lunar Eclipses are associated with Solar Eclipses and the New Moon of September 13, 2015 is the Solar Eclipse that precedes the fourth and final Lunar Eclipse of this “Blood Moon” Tetrad.  (Compare, also, the Lunar Eclipse of April of this year.)

While the NM does have some interesting qualities, it is not necessarily the most interesting NM of the year.  (That title would likely go to either the Algol NM in May or the Solar Eclipse this year at the time of the Vernal Equinox.)  [Apologies to iPhone users in advance: this is a LONG post.]
